With the increasing rate of Omicron in Indonesia, 150 regencies/cities have aggressively conducted Covid-19 tests in the last week above the national average. Data as of Tuesday, January 10, 2023, shows a national average of 136.76 tests per week.
The top five, starting from the highest, are Gresik, Kediri, Banyumas, Denpasar City, and Pekanbaru City, with weekly figures of 987, 986, 972, 967, and 966 people tested per week, respectively.
Gresik ranks first. The number of people tested in the last week was 987 per week. The latest positive rate is 0.61 percent. The positive rate in this region has decreased compared to the previous week's percentage.
Next is Kediri. In an effort to prevent the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of people tested in the last week was 986 per week. The positive rate in this region is 0.71 percent, which has also decreased compared to the previous week's percentage.
Furthermore, 972 people were tested per week in Banyumas, 967 in Denpasar City, and 966 in Pekanbaru City in the last week.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on a recapitulation of national Covid data, 190 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of people tested daily in the last week compared to the previous week. Meanwhile, 162 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of people tested in the last week compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of people tested in the last week include Denpasar City, Pekanbaru City, and Batam City, with 967, 966, and 900 people tested in the last week, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the rate of coronavirus transmission.
