Based on data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), in February 2024, the number of open unemployed in Indonesia reached approximately 7.2 million people.
This represents 4.82% of the total national workforce, which numbered 149.38 million people.
Indonesia's unemployment rate varies when detailed at the provincial level.
In February 2024, the lowest unemployment rate was in Papua Pegunungan, at only 1.18%.
This means that in that month, about 1 in 100 people in the Papua Pegunungan workforce were not working for various reasons.

Then there are Central Sulawesi (3.15%), Bengkulu (3.17%), East Nusa Tenggara (3.17%), Southeast Sulawesi (3.22%), and Yogyakarta Special Region (3.24%).
The figures recorded here represent the open unemployment rate (OUR), which is the ratio of the number of unemployed to the number of people in the workforce in each region.
According to BPS, people included in the open unemployment group are:

2. Those without a job and are preparing a business;
3. Those without a job and not looking for a job because they feel it is impossible to find work; and
