GISAID reports that the number of Omicron (B.1.1.529) variant Covid-19 cases in Indonesia reached 34,249 as of Tuesday, February 21, 2023. This represents a difference of 36 cases compared to the previous day. Weekly growth in Indonesia was 0.11 percent.
This number of Omicron variant cases places Indonesia first in Southeast Asia. Malaysia remains in second place with 26,917 cases.
Thailand is in third place. Compared to the previous week, the number of Omicron cases in Thailand grew by 0.54 percent. However, the daily number of Omicron cases decreased by 1.38 percent compared to the previous day, which recorded 25,232 cases.
Furthermore, the number of Omicron cases in Singapore increased by 0.59 percent to 19,276 compared to the previous week. The number of Omicron cases in the Philippines was 12,551 compared to the previous week, and in Vietnam, it was 5,307 compared to the previous week.
GISAID's report also indicates that it has detected a total of 7.58 million Omicron variant Covid-19 cases worldwide. This represents an increase compared to the previous week, which recorded 7.51 million cases.
