With the increasing rate of Omicron in Indonesia, 165 regencies/cities are currently aggressively conducting Covid-19 tests above the national average. Data as of Wednesday, April 20, 2022, shows a national average of 2.15 tests per 1,000 people per week.
The top five, starting from the highest, are Badung, Mimika, Fakfak, Jayapura City, and Teluk Wondama, with respective figures of 13.33, 12.89, 11.82, 11.38, and 11.35 tests per 1,000 people per week.
Badung ranks first. With a population of 727,950, the number of people tested here is recorded at 13.33 per 1,000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 0.7 percent. The positive rate in this region has decreased compared to the previous week's ratio.
Next is Mimika. The population in this region is recorded at 221,810. In an effort to counter the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of people tested is 12.89 per 1,000 people per week. The positive rate in this region is recorded at 0.45 percent, also down compared to the previous week's ratio.
Then, Fakfak recorded 11.82 tests per 1,000 people per week, Jayapura City recorded 11.38 tests per 1,000 people per week, and Teluk Wondama recorded 11.35 tests per 1,000 people per week.
In anticipation of the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on a recapitulation of national Covid data, there are 223 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reporting a higher daily number of people tested than before. Meanwhile, 154 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of people tested compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of people tested include Badung, Mimika, and Fakfak, with 13.33, 12.89, and 11.82 tests per 1,000 people per week respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue to reduce Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the rate of coronavirus transmission.
