Four provinces in Java and Bali have begun to see a decrease in Covid-19 cases over the past week. This is partly due to the extension of the Level 4 Community Activity Restriction (PPKM) until August 2, 2021.
The four provinces experiencing a decrease in Covid-19 cases over the past week are Jakarta, Banten, West Java, and East Java. Meanwhile, Bali, Central Java, and Yogyakarta are still experiencing an increase in daily cases over the past week.
In detail, Covid-19 cases in Jakarta increased by 34.01% from 61,521 people from July 15-21, 2021 to 40,600 people from July 22-28, 2021. Banten experienced a 33.67% decrease in Covid-19 cases, from 21,169 people to 14,041 people over the past week.
Covid-19 cases in West Java decreased by 9.35%, from 59,169 people to 53,636 people over the past week. Meanwhile, Covid-19 cases in East Java decreased by 6.4%, from 42,642 people to 39,915 people during the same period.
On the other hand, Covid-19 cases in Bali increased by 31.12%, from 6,519 people to 8,548 people over the past week. Covid-19 cases in Central Java increased by 13.06%, from 30,491 people to 34,473 people during the same period.
The increase in Covid-19 cases in Yogyakarta was recorded at 2.36% over the past week. The number increased from 14,520 people to 14,863 people.
The Level 4 PPKM policy is not the only way to reduce the spread of the coronavirus. The public also needs to be disciplined in implementing the 3M health protocols: wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap. In addition, the public is urged to reduce mobility and avoid crowds.
