The number of active Covid-19 cases in Indonesia reached 53,127 as of August 14, 2022, according to a report by the Covid-19 Task Force. This figure is down 479 cases from the previous day.
Compared to a month ago, the number of active Covid-19 cases has more than doubled. By region, DKI Jakarta dominated national active Covid-19 cases on August 14, 2022, reaching 19,208 cases. This is equivalent to 36.15% of the total active Covid-19 cases in Indonesia.
Next, West Java is in second place with a total of 18,285 active Covid-19 cases. This amounts to 34.41% of the total national active Covid-19 cases.
Furthermore, Banten and Central Java recorded active Covid-19 cases of 4,911 and 1,921 respectively. Meanwhile, active Covid-19 cases in Bali reached 1,517.
In total, approximately 6.28 million people in Indonesia were infected with Covid-19 up to August 14, 2022. 2.5% of them died, and 96.65% recovered.
The public needs to be aware of the increase in active cases in Indonesia, especially in these five provinces. The public is urged to implement health protocols to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
This includes wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands. In addition, booster vaccinations are also recommended to reduce the severity of infection and death from Covid-19.
