2024 Hajj Costs Increase, Government Subsidy Reduced

The Ministry of Religious Affairs and Commission VIII of the DPR have agreed on an average Hajj Pilgrimage Cost (BPIH) of Rp93.41 million per person for 2024.

Of this amount, the Hajj Pilgrimage Trip Cost (Bipih), or the cost borne by pilgrims, is Rp56.04 million per person (60%), while the value of benefits or government subsidies for Hajj costs is Rp37.36 million per person (40%).

The total BPIH in 2024 increased by approximately Rp3.4 million or grew by 3.7% (year-on-year/yoy) compared to 2023.

The Bipih/Hajj cost borne by pilgrims in 2024 increased by Rp6.14 million or grew by 12% (yoy).

Meanwhile, the value of benefits/government subsidies for Hajj costs in 2024 decreased by Rp2.8 million or fell by approximately 7% (yoy).

Over the past ten years, the value of benefits/government subsidies for Hajj costs increased from 2014 to 2019 but has continuously decreased from 2022 to 2024, as shown in the graph.

These benefits are sourced from the development of Hajj funds by the Hajj Finance Management Agency (BPKH).
