Percentage-wise, the top five countries with the highest increase in deaths are Bahrain, Iran (Islamic Republic of), Israel, Turkey, and Bangladesh. The total deaths in these five countries as of Saturday, July 9, 2022, amounted to 184, with a weekly growth exceeding 105.26 percent.
Bahrain recorded the highest increase in COVID-19 deaths in Asia, with weekly growth reaching 500 percent. Worldometer recorded six deaths in the country, an increase compared to the previous week's single death.
Following Bahrain is Iran (Islamic Republic of), with a weekly growth in deaths reaching 181.82 percent. Yesterday's daily death toll in Iran was 31. Deaths in Israel increased by 164.86%, Turkey recorded 10 deaths (a 150% increase), and deaths in Bangladesh increased by 105.26%.
Looking at the number of reported deaths, the highest number of deaths in the last seven days in Asia occurred in Taiwan, with 677 deaths. Death reports in Taiwan decreased by 15.69% compared to the previous week. Following Taiwan, India recorded 204 deaths (a 5.15% increase), Thailand recorded 130 deaths (a 23.81% increase), Israel recorded 98 deaths (a 164.86% increase), and Japan recorded 97 deaths (a 48.95% decrease).
The total number of deaths in Asia over the past seven days was 1,561. This accounts for 16.09 percent of global deaths caused by the COVID-19 virus, totaling 9,700 deaths. The death toll in Asia decreased compared to the previous seven-day accumulation of 1,612 deaths.
