Based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 138 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 tests exceeding the national average over the past week. Data as of Saturday, January 21, 2023, shows a national average of 132.02 tests per week.
The top five, starting from the highest, are Makassar City, Karawang, Banyumas, Samarinda City, and Kediri, with weekly test numbers of 990, 986, 952, 937, and 889 respectively.
Makassar City ranks first, with 990 tests per week. The latest positive rate is 0.61 percent, an increase from the previous week.
Next is Karawang, which conducted 986 tests per week in its efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic. The positive rate in this region is 1.12 percent, a decrease from the previous week's ratio.
Following this, Banyumas recorded 952 tests per week; Samarinda City, with a population of 873,460, recorded 937 tests per week; and Kediri recorded 889 tests per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 98 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily tests compared to the previous week. Meanwhile, 251 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of weekly tests include Makassar City, Samarinda City, and Sikka, with 990, 937, and 843 tests per week respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining physical distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
