The top five, starting with the highest number of people tested per 1,000 people per week, are Balikpapan City (3.3 people), Central Jakarta City (3.07 people), South Jakarta City (2.89 people), Badung (2.29 people), and East Jakarta City (2.26 people).
Balikpapan City ranks first. With a population of 649,420, the number of people tested is 3.3 per 1,000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 0.14 percent. The positive rate in this region has decreased compared to the previous week.
Next is Central Jakarta City. The population is 914,530. In efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of people tested is 3.07 per 1,000 people per week. The positive rate is 1.78 percent, also down from the previous week.
Covid-19 testing in South Jakarta City recorded 2.89 people per 1,000 people per week, in Badung 2.29 people per 1,000 people per week, and 2.26 people per 1,000 people per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on national Covid-19 data recapitulation, there are 81 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reporting a higher daily number of people tested than before. Meanwhile, 272 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of people tested compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of people tested include Balikpapan City, Badung, and Kutai Kartanegara, with 3.3, 2.29, and 2.03 people tested per 1,000 people per week respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
