The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) report notes that the number of foreign tourist visits (wisman) to Indonesia reached 212,332 in May 2022. This figure increased by more than 91.19% compared to the previous month, which was 111,057 visits.
Australia was the country of origin for the most foreign tourists visiting Indonesia in May 2022, totaling 34,395 visits, or 16.19% of the total foreign tourist visits to Indonesia during that period.
Next, Singapore ranked second in the number of foreign tourist arrivals to Indonesia in May 2022, reaching 24,032 visits, or 11.31% of the total foreign tourist visits to Indonesia.
Malaysia and India ranked third and fourth. The total number of foreign tourist visits from Malaysia was 20,247, and from India, 17,319 in May 2022.
Furthermore, foreign tourist visits from the United Kingdom to Indonesia were recorded at 11,263 in May 2022. This was followed by visits from the United States at 11,121, France at 8,934, and Germany at 8,500.
The number of foreign tourist visits from China was recorded at 6,675. Meanwhile, foreign tourist visits from the Netherlands ranked tenth at 6,054.
Based on the mode of transportation, the most foreign tourist visits to Indonesia in May 2022 were by air, totaling 183,830 visits. This was followed by sea transport at 26,121 visits and land transport at 2,381 visits.
