COVID-19 cases in Indonesia have continued to surge since early July 2022. This has resulted in an increase in the bed occupancy rate (BOR) in designated COVID-19 hospitals.
A report from the Ministry of Health shows that the national average BOR for COVID-19 hospitals was 4.63% as of Monday, July 25, 2022. This figure is higher than the previous week's 3.78% and the previous month's 2.16%.
Although increasing, the national COVID-19 hospital BOR remains below the World Health Organization (WHO) standard of 60%.
As of July 25, 2022, Bali had the highest national COVID-19 hospital BOR at 16.20%, followed by DKI Jakarta at 12.29%.
Next were Banten with a COVID-19 hospital BOR of 9.33%, followed by South Kalimantan, Yogyakarta, and West Java with BORs of 9.13%, 6.77%, and 6.18%, respectively.
West Sulawesi, Central Kalimantan, Papua, and South Sumatra had COVID-19 hospital BORs of 5.52%, 4.25%, 3.64%, and 3.59%, respectively.
Gorontalo had the lowest national COVID-19 hospital BOR at 0%.
Although Indonesia's hospital bed occupancy rate remains well below the WHO standard, the public must remain vigilant against the spread of the Corona virus.
The public is urged to continue to adhere to health protocols by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap. In addition, receiving a third dose or booster vaccination is also important to reduce the severity of infection and death from COVID-19.
