Anticipating the impact of the rising Omicron variant, 145 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 testing above the national average. Data from Monday, December 5, 2022, shows a national average of 0.65 tests per 1000 people per week.
The top five cities with the highest number of tests per 1000 people per week are: South Jakarta (7.1 people), Central Jakarta (6.89 people), East Jakarta (5.03 people), Balikpapan (4.89 people), and South Tangerang (4.85 people).
South Jakarta ranks first, with 7.1 tests per 1000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 14.32 percent, down from the previous week.
Next is Central Jakarta, with a population of 913,720. To combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 6.89 tests per 1000 people per week were conducted. The positive rate is 14.89 percent, also down from the previous week.
East Jakarta recorded 5.03 tests per 1000 people per week; Balikpapan (population 646,020) recorded 4.89 tests per 1000 people per week; and South Tangerang recorded 4.85 tests per 1000 people per week.
In anticipation of the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on national Covid data, 239 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily tests than the previous week. Conversely, 117 regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, areas with the highest number of tests include Balikpapan (4.89 tests per 1000 people), Metro (4.12 tests per 1000 people), and West Lampung (4.06 tests per 1000 people).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
