This week's Covid-19 statistics in Europe show that most countries have recorded a decrease in the number of deaths, a reversal from the previous period where death tolls continued to rise. This week, 10 countries still recorded an increase in deaths, while 21 others recorded fewer deaths than the previous week.
In terms of percentage increase, the top five countries with the highest increase in deaths are Ukraine, Moldova, Portugal, Montenegro, and Russia. The total deaths in these five countries as of Monday, September 5, 2022, amounted to 688, with a weekly growth exceeding 19.31 percent.
Ukraine recorded the highest increase in Covid-19 deaths in Europe, with weekly growth reaching 266.67 percent. Worldometer recorded 11 deaths in the country, an increase from the three reported the previous week.
Next is Moldova, which recorded deaths 100 percent higher than the previous week. The country reported eight more deaths than the previous week's four. Deaths in Portugal increased by 40.74%, deaths in Montenegro increased by 40%, and deaths in Russia increased by 19.31%.
Looking at the number of reported deaths, the highest number of deaths in the last seven days in Europe occurred in Germany, with 658 deaths. Death reports in this country increased by 9.67% compared to the previous week. Following Germany, Russia reported the highest number of deaths with 624 (up 19.31%), Italy with 496 deaths (down 20.64%), Spain with 313 deaths (up 17.67%), and France with 309 deaths (down 2.22%).
Total deaths in Europe over the past seven days were recorded at 3,604. This accounts for 28.6 percent of global deaths caused by the Covid-19 virus, totaling 12,601. The number of deaths in Europe decreased compared to the previous seven-day accumulation of 3,703.
