In terms of percentage, the five countries with the highest increase in deaths were the United States, Peru, Mexico, and Guatemala. The total deaths in these five countries as of Saturday, April 8, 2023, were 1,058, representing a weekly growth rate above -66.67 percent.
The United States recorded the highest number of additional Covid-19 deaths in the Americas, with weekly growth reaching 14.6 percent. Worldometer recorded 934 deaths in the country, a 13.44 percent increase compared to the previous day.
Peru followed with a weekly death growth rate of -2.99 percent. Daily death figures in the country decreased by 10.96% compared to the previous day, totaling 73 deaths.
Mexico reported 58 deaths (down 65.68%), and Guatemala reported one death (down 66.67%).

The total number of deaths in the Americas over the past seven days was 1,058. This accounts for 40.12 percent of global Covid-19 deaths, totaling 2,637. The number of deaths in the Americas increased compared to the previous seven-day accumulation of 1,054 deaths.
