The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) recorded an average of 0.65 deaths per 100,000 people per week in East Kalimantan due to COVID-19, data updated as of Sunday, November 13, 2022. This figure is higher than the national average, which currently stands at 0.12 deaths per 100,000 people per week.
Mahakam Ulu Regency had the highest number of COVID-19 deaths, with 3.73 deaths per 100,000 people per week. The number of COVID-19 deaths in this regency shows no improvement, as it increased compared to the previous week, which reported zero COVID-19 deaths.
A similar situation occurred in West Kutai Regency, which recorded 0.66 COVID-19 deaths per 100,000 people per week. This also represents an increase compared to the previous week, which reported zero COVID-19 deaths. Next is North Penajam Paser Regency, also in East Kalimantan province, which recorded 0.62 COVID-19 deaths per 100,000 people per week.
Berau and Paser Regencies followed, with 0.42 and 0.35 COVID-19 deaths per 100,000 people per week, respectively.
Nationally, the average number of COVID-19 deaths across the 34 provinces is currently on an upward trend compared to the previous week, which was only 0.07 deaths per 100,000 people per week.
