Active Covid-19 cases in Indonesia are currently declining again. According to a report from the Covid-19 Task Force, the number of active Covid-19 cases in Indonesia is now 44,514 as of Monday, August 29, 2022.
The total number of Covid-19 cases reported today has reached 6.35 million. Of these, 157,520 people have died and 6.15 million have recovered.
Although active Covid-19 cases in the country are decreasing, the public must remain vigilant. Especially since the coronavirus has the potential to remain contagious, even after events like Lebaran, as is the case currently.
The implementation of health protocols is still expected to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, namely by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap. In addition, the public is also encouraged to get booster vaccinations to strengthen the body's immunity and reduce the severity of infection from the coronavirus.
In the latest news regarding Covid-19 developments, the Ministry of Health has found that two new Omicron subvariants, BA.4 and BA.5, are one of the causes of the resurgence of infections in Indonesia. The lowest number of active Covid cases in Indonesia was previously recorded at 2,871 cases on May 30, 2022. After that, active Covid cases began to rise along with an increase in positive confirmations in the country.
Therefore, Indonesia needs to be vigilant. The public is urged to continue to strive to prevent the spread of the coronavirus by implementing health protocols such as wearing masks, washing hands, maintaining distance, avoiding crowds, and limiting mobility.
