Indonesia's Total Recovered COVID-19 Cases Rank Fourth Highest in Asia

The total number of patients who have recovered from the Covid-19 virus in Indonesia reached 1,994,573 people as of Thursday, July 8, 2021. According to Worldometer data, this number is the fourth highest in Asia.

India is in first place with a total of 29,871,850 recovered cases. Turkey is next with 5,333,759 recovered from corona. Meanwhile, recovered cases in Iran reached 2,981,019 people.

Despite being in fourth place in Asia, the recovery rate of corona patients in Indonesia is only 82.5%. This figure is below the global average of 91.5%.

This low recovery rate coincides with the surge in corona cases and high hospital bed occupancy. Many corona-infected patients find it difficult to receive optimal treatment because hospital beds are almost full.

Based on this, the government is trying to suppress the spread of corona by implementing an Emergency Community Activity Restriction (PPKM) in Java and Bali from July 3-20, 2021. In addition, the government also increased hospital bed capacity in Java by approximately 1.6% to 79.7%.

The government also urges the public to be disciplined in implementing the 3M health protocols: wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap. In addition, the public is urged to avoid crowds and reduce mobility.
