Based on national Covid-19 data, 152 regencies/cities aggressively conducted specimen examinations exceeding the national average. As of Monday, May 30, 2022, the national average was 174.16 specimens per week.
The top five, starting with the highest, are Cimahi City, Kendari City, Tanjung Pinang City, Jombang, and Mimika, with 980, 978, 969, 956, and 928 specimens per week, respectively.
Cimahi City ranks first. With a population of 610,490, it recorded 980 specimens per week. The latest positive rate is 1.64 percent, an increase from the previous week.
Next is Kendari City, with a population of 411,830. In efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 978 specimens were examined per week. The positive rate is 0 percent, a decrease from the previous week.
Tanjung Pinang City recorded 969 specimens per week, Jombang 956, and Mimika (population 221,810) 928 specimens per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact, national Covid-19 data shows 129 regencies/cities actively reporting higher daily specimen examination numbers than before. Conversely, 205 regencies/cities recorded lower specimen examination numbers compared to the previous week.
Outside Java, some areas with the highest number of specimens examined include Kendari City (978 specimens), Tanjung Pinang City (969 specimens), and Mimika (928 specimens).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
