The Omicron (B.1.1.529) variant of the Covid-19 virus continues to spread globally, reaching 4.73 million cases by Saturday, November 12, 2022. Djibouti recorded the highest increase in Omicron cases, with weekly growth reaching 11.48 percent. GISAID recorded 505 new Omicron cases in the country. Daily cases in this region increased by 11.48 percent compared to the previous day.
Iceland followed in second place. Compared to the previous week, Omicron cases in the country grew by 9.51 percent, with 2,003 new cases reported. Daily statistics show a 4.54 percent increase in Omicron cases compared to the previous day, which recorded 1,916 cases.
Next, new Omicron cases in Austria increased by 4.18 percent to 122,270 cases compared to the previous week, Indonesia saw an increase of 26,352 Omicron cases (up 3.69%), and Peru saw a 2.82 percent increase to 20,330 cases compared to the previous week.
Meanwhile, in Indonesia, 26,352 new Omicron cases were recorded, a 0.46 percent increase compared to the previous day. Since it was first monitored, Omicron cases in Indonesia have continued to rise.
