The Indonesian Political Indicator survey institute released a survey report on public assessment of the COVID-19 pandemic status. The results show that a majority, or 69%, of respondents agreed that the pandemic status should be downgraded to endemic.
Several reasons were cited. First, a majority of the public, or 26.8% of respondents, considered the spread of COVID-19 to be under control. Next, 19.9% of respondents believed that most people had received two doses of the vaccine, and 19.6% of respondents argued for the sake of restarting the economy.
Furthermore, 8.4% of the public agreed that the pandemic should be downgraded to endemic because COVID-19 is considered like a common cold. Meanwhile, 7.6% of respondents cited having received a booster shot, and 5% of respondents did not want the public to be scared of COVID-19 anymore.
Additionally, 9.5% of respondents agreed that the pandemic status should be downgraded to endemic for other reasons. Meanwhile, 3.1% of respondents did not know or did not answer.
This survey was conducted from May 5th to May 20th, 2022, involving 1,228 respondents. Respondent criteria included being 17 years or older or married, and owning a telephone/cell phone.
The sample was taken using random digit dialing (RDD), or a process of randomly generating telephone numbers. The margin of error for this survey is 2.9% with a 92% confidence level.
