Next is the United States, which recorded 7.4 percent fewer deaths compared to the previous week. However, daily data shows a 10.86% increase in deaths compared to the previous day. Peru recorded 75 deaths (down 16.67%), Mexico recorded a 17.42% decrease in deaths, and Guatemala recorded an 83.33% decrease.
Looking at the number of reported deaths, the highest number of deaths in the Americas over the past seven days occurred in the United States, with 939 deaths. Reported deaths in the country decreased by 7.4% compared to the previous week. Following this, Mexico reported 109 deaths (down 17.42%), Chile reported 80 deaths (up 5.26%), Peru reported 75 deaths (down 16.67%), and Guatemala reported one death (down 83.33%).
The total number of deaths in the Americas over the past seven days was 1,204. This accounts for 37.64 percent of global Covid-19 deaths, totaling 3,199. The number of deaths in the Americas decreased compared to the previous seven-day accumulation of 1,318 deaths.
