Based on a survey by the Kurious-Katadata Insight Center (KIC), 220 out of 660 respondents in Indonesia, equivalent to 30.6%, reported having used a mental health telehealth application.

Of these 30.6% of respondents, the majority stated that ease of access was the primary factor for using such telehealth applications.

A significant 75.2% of respondents admitted to using mental health telehealth applications because of their accessibility anytime, anywhere.

The next factor considered by respondents was the guaranteed security of data and information shared within the mental health telehealth application. This accounted for 59.4%.

Furthermore, 57.4% of respondents stated that mental health telehealth applications were relatively inexpensive or affordable. This was followed by the ability to consult and discuss problems without face-to-face interaction, chosen by 50.5% of respondents.

Other factors included a good or trustworthy reputation (31.7%), recommendation from friends, family, or trusted individuals (27.2%), and other factors (1.5%).

The survey also found that the majority of respondents who had used mental health telehealth applications used them frequently (41.1%) or very frequently (24.3%). Those who reported infrequent use reached 34.7%.

The Kurious-KIC survey was conducted on a total of 661 respondents spread across Indonesia, with 51.7% male respondents and 48.3% female respondents.

66.9% of respondents were from the island of Java (excluding Jakarta), followed by respondents from DKI Jakarta (13.5%), and Sumatra (12.3%). The proportion of respondents from Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Bali-Nusa Tenggara, and Maluku-Papua ranged from 0.2% to 2.6%.

The majority of respondents were from the 25-34 age group (37.8%), followed by the 35-44 age group (27.5%) and the 45-54 age group (16.8%).

Data collection was conducted from October 6-9, 2023, using the computer-assisted web interviewing (CAWI) method, with a margin of error of approximately 3.81% and a 95% confidence level.
