Based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 187 regencies/cities aggressively conducted weekly testing exceeding the national average. As of Tuesday, May 24, 2022, the national average testing rate was recorded at 140.64 percent. This testing achievement data is calculated based on the number of people tested compared to the weekly target of each region, which is then reported to the Ministry of Health.
The top five, starting from the highest weekly testing percentage, are Supiori (938.1%), South Jakarta (927.19%), Balikpapan (920.81%), Badung (917.72%), and Central Jakarta (907.09%).
Supiori ranks first. With a population of 21,170, the weekly testing percentage in this area was recorded at 938.1 percent. The latest positive rate is 1.02 percent. The positive rate in this region increased compared to the previous week's ratio.
Next is South Jakarta. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the weekly testing percentage was 927.19 percent. The positive rate in this region was recorded at 0.69 percent, an increase compared to the previous week's percentage.
Then, Balikpapan, with a population of 646,020, recorded a weekly testing percentage of 920.81 percent. Badung recorded a weekly testing percentage of 917.72 percent, and Central Jakarta, with a population of 913,720, recorded a weekly testing percentage of 907.09 percent.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, there are 54 regencies/cities in Indonesia that actively reported higher daily weekly testing percentages than before. Meanwhile, 332 other regencies/cities recorded lower weekly testing percentages compared to the previous week's testing.
Some of the regions outside Java with the highest weekly testing percentages include Supiori, Balikpapan, and Badung, with weekly testing percentages of 938.1 percent, 920.81 percent, and 917.72 percent, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue to reduce Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the rate of coronavirus transmission.
