According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Indonesia received 1.07 million foreign tourist visits in September 2023.
This figure represents a 5.51% decrease month-on-month (mom), but a 52.76% increase year-on-year (yoy).
Based on country of origin, Malaysia dominated the number of foreign tourist visits to Indonesia in September 2023, with 152,210 visits (14.22%).
Australia was in second place with 140,060 visits (13.09%), followed by Singapore in third place with 114,710 visits (10.72%).
China was in fourth place, contributing 88,760 visits (8.29%), followed by Timor Leste in fifth place with 57,560 visits (5.38%).

Based on mode of transportation, the majority of foreign tourists visiting Indonesia in September 2023 used air transport, with 777,530 visits. This accounts for 72.66% of total foreign tourist visits that month.
There were also 134,950 foreign tourist visits via sea transport (12.6%), 22,320 visits via land transport (2.08%), and 135,420 visits via border crossings (12.66%).
