Residents of South Tapanuli Regency spend Rp217.63 per capita per week on green beans.

In South Tapanuli Regency in 2023, per capita weekly expenditure on green beans was Rp217.63. This is an increase compared to the previous year's expenditure of Rp199.41 per capita per week.

The five highest per capita weekly expenditures on vegetables in South Tapanuli Regency, in descending order, were: red chilies Rp4,746.88, garlic Rp2,347.95, cherry tomatoes Rp931.65, cassava leaves Rp842.76, and the lowest was for sour vegetable/lodeh (package) at Rp7.92.

Per capita average expenditure is the cost incurred for the consumption of all household members over a month, including purchases, gifts, and self-produced goods, divided by the number of household members. Household consumption is categorized into food and non-food consumption, regardless of the origin of the goods, and is limited to household needs only, excluding consumption/expenditure for business purposes or given to others.

Expenditure on food consumption is calculated weekly, while non-food consumption is calculated monthly and for the past 12 months. Both food and non-food consumption are then converted into average monthly expenditure. The per capita average consumption/expenditure figures presented in BPS publications are obtained by dividing the total consumption of all households (both consuming food and not) by the total population.

According to the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), the average per capita expenditure in this regency reached Rp1.19 million per capita per month in March 2023. This figure increased by 20.51% compared to March 2022, which was Rp984,990 per capita per month.

Based on region, the highest per capita expenditure on green beans was in Yalimo Regency and the lowest in Bone Bolango Regency. South Tapanuli Regency ranked 192nd in terms of green bean expenditure. Meanwhile, the national average per capita expenditure on green beans is Rp257 per week.
