The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that the hotel occupancy rate (HOR) for star-rated hotels in Jakarta reached 42.6% in September 2021. This figure is up 11.8 percentage points from the previous month's 30.8%.
The increase in the HOR of star-rated hotels in the capital city is in line with the easing of community activity restrictions (PPKM), which allowed for the resumption of office activities. In addition, tourist attractions and entry points for foreign tourists have also reopened.
Compared to the same period the previous year, the HOR of star-rated hotels in Jakarta increased slightly by 3.6 percentage points. The HOR for Jakarta's star-rated hotels was recorded at 39% in September 2020.
According to their classification, all star-rated hotels in Jakarta experienced a monthly increase in HOR in September 2021. The highest increase was experienced by five-star hotels, at 19.2 percentage points, from 24.7% to 43.9%.
Two-star hotels experienced an increase of 16.1 percentage points, from 31.4% to 47.5%. Four-star hotels saw a 12.2 percentage point increase, from 29.1% to 41.3%.
One-star hotels saw an eight percentage point increase, from 18.7% to 26.7%. Meanwhile, three-star hotels increased by 5.7 percentage points, from 36.4% to 42.1%.
Year-on-year, four-star hotels in Jakarta experienced the highest increase, at 10 percentage points, from 31.3% to 41.3%. Two-star hotels increased by 7.8 percentage points, from 39.7% to 47.5%. Three-star hotels increased by 0.9 percentage points, from 41.2% to 42.1%.
One-star hotels experienced a year-on-year decrease of 24.8 percentage points, from 51.5% to 26.7%. Five-star hotels also experienced a decrease of 1.4 percentage points, from 45.3% to 43.9%.
