The Omicron (B.1.1.529) variant of the Covid-19 virus continues to spread globally, reaching 2.41 million cases by Saturday, March 26, 2022. The United Kingdom ranks first, with a weekly Omicron case growth of 8.82 percent. GISAID recorded 909,790 Omicron cases in the UK. Daily cases in this region increased by 1.61 percent compared to the previous day.
Following the UK, the United States is in second place. Compared to the previous week, the number of Omicron cases in the US grew by 6.47 percent, reaching 737,150 cases. Daily statistics show a 0.9 percent increase in Omicron cases compared to the previous day, which recorded 730,600 cases.
Next, the number of Omicron cases in Denmark increased by 10.05 percent to 155,430 compared to the previous week. Germany reported 111,400 Omicron cases (up 0.31%), and France reported 74,193 cases (up 13.62%).
As for Indonesia, the number of Omicron cases recorded to date is 9,206, a 1.4 percent increase compared to the previous day. Since its initial detection, the number of Omicron cases in Indonesia has steadily risen.
