The Vegan World, a US-based vegan website, released a list of the world's most vegan-friendly cities in 2022.
The level of vegan-friendliness was measured by the number of vegan restaurants in each city.
The Vegan World analyzed the number of dedicated vegan restaurants listed on the Happycow website, resulting in a list of cities with the most vegan restaurants per 100,000 inhabitants as of December 2022.
The top three cities on the list are located in Southeast Asia.
Ubud ranked third, with 21.5 vegan restaurants per 100,000 inhabitants.
According to The Vegan World, this regency in Gianyar, Bali, is known as a hub for tourists and digital nomads, and is very vegan-friendly.
"Because Bali is a tropical paradise, visitors can find abundant tropical fruits, as well as various vegan-friendly restaurants," wrote The Vegan World in its report.
Two cities in Thailand, Phuket and Chiang Mai, filled the top two spots, with 39.7 and 29 restaurants per 100,000 inhabitants respectively.
