Active Covid-19 cases in Indonesia have decreased again. However, several provinces have reported an increase in active coronavirus cases.
According to the Covid-19 Task Force report, the number of active Covid-19 cases in Indonesia was 2,890 as of May 24, 2022. This is a decrease of 174 cases from the previous day.
Jakarta has the highest number of active Covid-19 cases with 724 cases. This is equivalent to 25.05% of the total national active cases.
West Java is in second place with 449 active Covid-19 cases. Banten and Central Java are in third and fourth place, respectively, with 240 and 176 active cases. Bali and East Java follow with 153 and 141 active cases respectively.
Lampung, West Nusa Tenggara, and Yogyakarta are also among the provinces with the highest number of active Covid-19 cases nationally, with 126, 110, and 101 cases respectively. North Sumatra has 95 active Covid-19 cases.
The total number of positive Covid-19 cases in Indonesia reached 6,052,764 as of May 23, 2022. 2.58% of these cases resulted in death, and 97.36% have reportedly recovered.
The public is still urged to remain vigilant against Covid-19 transmission, even though active coronavirus cases have decreased. Adherence to health protocols remains crucial, including wearing masks, maintaining physical distance, and washing hands with soap.
Furthermore, the public is encouraged to get booster vaccinations to strengthen immunity and reduce the severity of coronavirus infection.
