The Omicron (B.1.1.529) variant of the Covid-19 virus continues to spread globally, reaching 1.81 million cases by Saturday, March 5, 2022. The United Kingdom recorded the highest number of Omicron cases, with weekly growth reaching 30.38 percent. GISAID recorded 703,500 Omicron cases in the UK. Daily cases in this region increased by 1.33 percent compared to the previous day.
The United States is second. Compared to the previous week, the number of Omicron cases in the country grew by 20.99 percent. A total of 590,850 Omicron cases were reported. Daily statistics show a 0.65 percent increase in Omicron cases compared to the previous day, which recorded 587,050 cases.
Next, the number of Omicron cases in Denmark increased by 19.83 percent to 111,770 cases compared to the previous week, France with 52,409 Omicron cases (up 21.93%), and Canada with 41,807 Omicron cases (up 14.5%).
As for Indonesia, the number of Omicron cases recorded to date is 7,294, a 1.19 percent increase compared to the previous day. Since it was first monitored, Omicron cases in Indonesia have continued to rise.
