The highest increase in confirmed positive COVID-19 cases in South Sumatra currently occurred in Penukal Abab Lematang Ilir, with five cases per 100,000 population per week as of Friday, October 15, 2021. This figure is two cases higher than the second-highest region.
Over the past week, the COVID-19 transmission situation in Penukal Abab Lematang Ilir has not shown improvement. This is indicated by the higher number of cases this week compared to the previous week, which recorded four cases per 100,000 population per week.
Next in second place is Prabumulih City, recording three weekly confirmed cases per 100,000 population. Compared to the previous week, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases this week is still higher, meaning no improvement is evident.
Rounding out the top five are Muara Enim, Lubuk Linggau City, and Ogan Komering Ulu Timur Regency, recording 1.37, 1.25, and 1.02 weekly confirmed cases respectively.
According to the Ministry of Health's list, the next five regencies/cities in the top 10 are Banyuasin, Musi Rawas Utara, Lahat, and Ogan Komering Ilir. These regions recorded an average increase of over 0.23 cases per 100,000 population.
Other information from today's daily COVID-19 statistics shows that 127 regencies/cities in Indonesia recorded a higher increase compared to the previous week, while 311 other regencies/cities recorded lower weekly confirmed cases than the previous week.
