The Expat Insider 2022 survey, conducted by InterNations, ran from February 1st to 28th, 2022. The research methodology involved distributing online questionnaires to the InterNations community. The target audience included all types of expats, encompassing employees sent on overseas assignments and those who chose to relocate to another country.
The survey is based on three subcategories, each with two or three assessment factors. Respondents were asked to rate each factor on a scale of 1 to 7.
The Local Friendliness subcategory is based on the friendliness of the local population and their friendliness towards foreigners. Assessments included the ease of making local friends and satisfaction with their social life. For this subcategory, respondents were also asked whether they had a personal support network in their current country of residence. Finally, the Culture and Welcome subcategory encompasses feelings of comfort, acceptance, and familiarity with the local culture.
