The highest increase in confirmed positive Covid-19 cases in Papua currently occurred in Merauke, with 13.61 cases per 100,000 population per week as of Friday, October 15, 2021. This figure is two cases higher than the second-highest region.
In the last week, the Covid-19 transmission situation in Merauke has not shown improvement. This is indicated by the number of cases this week, which is still higher than the previous week's figure of five cases per 100,000 population per week.
Next in second place is Mimika. This region recorded 11.41 weekly confirmed cases per 100,000 population. Compared to last week's 17.8 cases, the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases this week is lower.
Rounding out the top five are Jayapura, Jayawijaya, and the city of Jayapura. Each recorded 10.9 cases, seven cases, and seven cases respectively for the week.
According to the Ministry of Health's list, the next five regencies/cities in the top 10 are Waropen, Boven Digoel, Intan Jaya, and Nduga. These regions recorded an average increase of more than 1.79 cases per 100,000 population.
Other information from today's daily Covid-19 data statistics shows that 127 regencies/cities in Indonesia recorded a higher increase compared to last week, and 311 other regencies/cities recorded lower weekly confirmations than the previous week.
