The Omicron (B.1.1.529) variant of the Covid-19 virus is spreading globally, reaching 296,780 cases by Thursday, January 13, 2022. The United Kingdom ranks first, with a weekly Omicron case growth of 70.62 percent. GISAID recorded 130,070 Omicron cases in the UK, a 4.53 percent increase from the previous day.
The United States follows, with weekly Omicron case growth reaching 102.49 percent. Daily Omicron cases in the US increased by 13.47% compared to the previous day, reaching 85,778 cases.
Next is Denmark with 19,033 Omicron cases (a 132.54% increase), France with 5,134 Omicron cases (a 115.44% increase), and Canada with a 110.24% increase in Omicron cases, totaling 3,879.
In Indonesia, as of today, there are 471 Omicron cases, a 9.03% increase from the previous day. Since its first detection, Omicron cases in Indonesia have steadily risen.
