Top 10 Regencies/Cities with the Highest Number of Individuals Tested (Tuesday, August 9, 2022)

Based on national Covid-19 data, 152 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 testing above the national average. Data from Tuesday, August 9, 2022, shows a national average of 0.95 tests per 1000 people per week.

The top five, starting from the highest, are South Jakarta, Central Jakarta, South Tangerang, East Jakarta, and West Jakarta, with 10.19, 9.51, 6.88, 6.44, and 6.08 tests per 1000 people per week, respectively.

South Jakarta ranks first, with 10.19 tests per 1000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 15.52 percent, down from the previous week.

Next is Central Jakarta, with a population of 913,720. To combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 9.51 tests per 1000 people per week were conducted. The positive rate is 16.14 percent, up from the previous week.

South Tangerang recorded 6.88 tests per 1000 people per week, East Jakarta 6.44, and West Jakarta 6.08.

In anticipation of the Omicron impact, national Covid-19 data shows 111 regencies/cities actively reporting higher daily testing numbers than before. Conversely, 185 regencies/cities recorded lower testing numbers compared to the previous week.

Outside Java, areas with the highest number of tests include Balikpapan, Badung, and Mimika, with 6.05, 5.5, and 4.49 tests per 1000 people per week, respectively.

Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
