The Indonesian government continues to intensify its Covid-19 vaccination program, including the third dose, or booster shot. Jakarta is one of the regions with the highest number of booster vaccinations nationally.
Based on data from the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes), the number of booster vaccine recipients in Jakarta has reached 3,895,226 people as of June 1, 2022, at 6:00 PM WIB. This number ranks fourth highest in Indonesia.
South Jakarta is the administrative region with the highest number of booster vaccine recipients in the capital city, with 961,528 people.
East Jakarta ranks second in the capital city for booster vaccine recipients, with 920,599 people having received the third dose in this region.
Next, 770,824 people have received the booster vaccine in West Jakarta, and 656,555 people in Central Jakarta have received the booster vaccine.
Furthermore, booster vaccinations in North Jakarta have reached 567,509 people, while the Thousand Islands have reached 18,215 people.
Nationally, Indonesia has administered booster vaccines to 45.93 million people as of June 1, 2022, at 6:00 PM WIB. This number only reaches 22.06% of the national Covid-19 vaccination target, which totals 208.26 million people.
President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) encourages all Indonesian people to utilize the Covid-19 booster vaccine facility. Jokowi urged the public not to be selective about the type of free booster vaccine provided by the government because all vaccines have the same benefits.
"This booster vaccination is very important; data from the Ministry of Health shows that booster vaccination can increase immunity by up to twice that of the second dose," said Jokowi in a video aired on the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube account on Monday (May 30, 2022).
