Tinned cakes are a popular food consumed by Indonesians during Ramadan and Idul Fitri. Generally, the higher the quality of the taste and packaging, the more expensive the tinned cakes.

According to a survey by the Kurious-Katadata Insight Center (KIC), during Ramadan, more Indonesian consumers appear to be buying expensive or premium tinned cakes.

More than half, or 56.4%, of respondents said they spent over Rp100,000 on tinned cakes during Ramadan. In other months, only 26.8% of respondents spent that much.

Conversely, during Ramadan, the number of respondents who bought tinned cakes worth Rp50,000-Rp100,000 decreased compared to other months. This is believed to be because respondents tended to opt for premium tinned cakes.

This survey was conducted on 731 respondents spread across various regions of Indonesia, with 58% male respondents and 42% female respondents.

More than half of the respondents were from Java (excluding Jakarta) (63.9%), followed by Jakarta (13.7%), and Sumatra (10.9%). The proportion of respondents from Sulawesi, Bali-Nusa Tenggara, Kalimantan, and Maluku-Papua ranged from 0.4% to 4.5%.

Most respondents were aged between 35-44 years (33.5%), followed by the 25-34 year-old group (31.1%) and the 45-54 year-old group (19%).

The survey was conducted from March 31 to April 8, 2023, using the computer-assisted web interviewing (CAWI) method, with a margin of error of approximately 3.62% and a 95% confidence level.
