These Were the Most Popular Cosmetic Plastic Surgeries of 2019

The International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) performed 11,363,569 procedures in 2019. Breast augmentation was the most popular procedure, with 1,795,551 performed.

Liposuction was the second most popular procedure, with a total of 1,704,786 procedures, representing 15% of all global aesthetic plastic surgery procedures. Eyelid surgery followed with 1,259,839 procedures (11.1%).

Other popular aesthetic plastic surgeries in 2019 included abdominoplasty (924,031), rhinoplasty (821,890), and breast lifts (600,219).

According to ISAPS data, non-surgical procedures were even more popular, reaching 13,618,735 procedures in 2019. Botulinum toxin (Botox) treatments were the most chosen, used to reduce wrinkles, treat chronic migraines, and muscle stiffness.

Brazil had the highest number of aesthetic plastic surgeries in 2019, with 1,493,673 procedures. The United States followed with 1,351,917 procedures, and Mexico with 580,659.

ISAPS distributed surveys to 25,000 plastic surgeons. The report's figures are projections of international statistics based on the estimated number of actively practicing certified plastic surgeons in each country. The international survey focused on certified doctors.
