Aqua and Le Minerale are the most widely known mineral water brands among Indonesian consumers, according to a survey by Kurious from the Katadata Insight Center (KIC). Furthermore, these two mineral water brands are also the most consumed by Indonesians.

A total of 93.1% of respondents reported consuming Aqua brand mineral water most frequently in the past year. Meanwhile, 74.7% of respondents stated they frequently consumed Le Minerale mineral water in the past year.

“Besides being the most widely known, Aqua and Le Minerale are the products most frequently used by the majority of respondents in the past year,” according to the Kurious report.

On the other hand, respondents who frequently consumed Vit, Club, Ades, Nestle, Crystalline, Pristine, Total, Amidis, Evian, Eternal Plus, and other brands were fewer than the two aforementioned mineral water brands, as shown in the graph.

The majority of respondents chose to consume mineral water that is easily found in shopping centers (65.9%) and is affordable (56.2%). Conversely, only a small percentage of respondents (14.8%) consumed mineral water due to frequent purchase promotions.

Kurious-KIC surveyed 725 respondents spread across various regions of Indonesia, with 47.4% male respondents and 52.6% female respondents.

More than half of the respondents were from Java Island excluding Jakarta (63.4%), followed by Jakarta (14.2%), and Sumatra (12.4%). Respondents from Sumatra, Sulawesi, Kalimantan, Bali-Nusa Tenggara, and Maluku-Papua ranged from 0.7% to 4%.

Most respondents were aged between 25-34 years old (31.6%), followed by the 35-44 year old group (30.2%) and the 45-54 year old group (22.5%).

The survey was conducted from January 2nd to 13th, 2023, using the computer-assisted web interviewing (CAWI) method, with a margin of error of approximately 3.64% and a 95% confidence level.
