10 Restaurants with the Highest Sales Value in Indonesia in 2024

According to a report by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), McDonald's became the restaurant with the highest sales value in Indonesia, reaching US$331 million in 2024.

The next positions were also filled by American fast-food restaurants: KFC with sales of US$328 million and Pizza Hut with US$188 million.

"These three leading players accounted for just 2 percent of the market, leaving space for expansion and further consolidation," the USDA stated in its report, Indonesia: Food Service - Hotel Restaurant Institutional Annual.

Nevertheless, the USDA noted that boycott campaigns against products perceived to be affiliated with Israel, as well as the lingering effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, contributed to the closure of several fast-food restaurant outlets.

For example, KFC Indonesia closed approximately 35 outlets in 2024.

"These actions, attributed to post-pandemic recovery challenges, boycotts, and reduced consumer purchasing power, resulted in substantial financial losses and workforce reductions," the USDA said.

4. Mie Gacoan: US$181 million
5. Hokben: US$176 million
6. Starbucks: US$163 million
7. Champ Resto Indonesia: US$104 million
8. Richeese: US$99 million
9. Kopi Kenangan: US$90 million
10. Chatime: US$87 million

According to the USDA, the majority of large restaurants in Indonesia use a mix of local and imported raw material supplies.

Commonly imported ingredients include cheese, frozen potatoes, beef, fruits, pork, wine, and nut products.
