5 Illegal Drugs Frequently Sold Online in Q1 2025

The Indonesian Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) has identified five illegal drugs widely sold on domestic online marketplaces.

This finding is based on BPOM's cyber patrol results during the first quarter of 2025. These illegal drugs lack BPOM distribution permits.

During this period, Viagra (Wubianli) had the highest economic loss, reaching Rp12.25 billion. This figure stems from 67 links and 141,114 products sold on online marketplaces.

"The regions with the highest number of online stores selling Viagra (Wubianli) are: DKI Jakarta, North Sulawesi, Bangka Belitung Islands, Yogyakarta Special Region, and West Java," BPOM wrote in its official Instagram post on Thursday, May 8, 2025.

The next most prevalent illegal drug on online marketplaces is Pi Kang Wang, with an economic value of Rp5.33 billion from a total of 181,335 products sold.

This is followed by Nangen Zengzhangsu with an economic value of Rp5.28 billion, Whitening Booster Chromosome at Rp5 billion, and Cream BL at Rp3 billion.

In response to the proliferation of illegal drugs sold on online marketplaces, BPOM urges the public to purchase medicines online safely through officially registered Pharmaceutical Electronic System Organizers (PSEF).
