Average Protein Consumption of 38 Indonesian Provinces in 2024: West Nusa Tenggara Highest

The recommended average daily nutritional intake (AKG) for Indonesians is 2,100 calories or 57 grams of protein per person. This is stipulated in Article 3 of the Minister of Health Regulation (Permenkes) No. 28 of 2019.

However, individual protein needs vary depending on gender and age.

Data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) shows that per capita protein consumption in Indonesia reached 61.70 grams per day in March 2024. This achievement meets the national AKG protein standard.

During this period, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) had the highest per capita protein consumption, at 74.45 grams per day.

Meanwhile, the province with the lowest national protein consumption was Papua Pegunungan, at only 39.89 grams per capita per day.

This was followed by Central Papua with 43.48 grams, South Papua with 51.57 grams, and West Papua with 51.78 grams.

The following is a list of the 10 provinces with the highest protein consumption in Indonesia in March 2024:

1. NTB: 74.45 grams per capita per day
2. South Kalimantan: 69.2 grams per capita per day
3. DKI Jakarta: 68.15 grams per capita per day
4. Bali: 67.22 grams per capita per day
5. Riau Islands: 67.05 grams per capita per day
6. South Sumatra: 66.43 grams per capita per day
7. Banten: 66.03 grams per capita per day
8. Bangka Belitung Islands: 65.69 grams per capita per day
9. East Kalimantan: 64.3 grams per capita per day
10. South Sulawesi: 63.63 grams per capita per day

BPS also recorded that the average daily calorie consumption of Indonesians reached 2,051.54 calories per capita per day in March 2024. This figure still does not meet the national AKG standard.
