The Indonesian Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) conducted cyber patrols of online stores selling illegal drugs and food.

This was done to detect potential disruptions and crimes in the field of drugs and food.

From January to April 2023, BPOM found 138,199 links selling illegal drugs and food on online stores.

Food was the highest commodity found, with 59,216 links.

Cosmetics were the second most numerous commodity found by BPOM, with 40,339 links.

Illegal drugs and traditional medicines found totaled 23,788 and 9,597 links, respectively, until mid-2023.

Meanwhile, BPOM will continue to conduct cyber patrols to protect the public from illegal products and food circulating in marketplaces.

"Following these findings, BPOM is coordinating with the Ministry of Communication and Informatics and the Indonesian E-Commerce Association (idEA) to conduct takedowns," wrote BPOM on its Instagram account on Friday (30/6/2023).

Furthermore, BPOM also reported that throughout 2022, 439,615 links distributing illegal drugs and food in Indonesia were found. Drugs were the leading commodity found, with 238,941 links.
