Apple iPhone 12 Was the Best-Selling Smartphone in Q1 2021

Apple's iPhone 12 was the best-selling smartphone globally in Q1 2021. According to Counterpoint data, the iPhone 12 accounted for 5% of total global smartphone sales volume.

Also from Apple, the iPhone 12 Pro Max contributed 4% to the total global smartphone sales volume from January to March 2021. The iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 11 each contributed 3% and 2%, respectively, to global smartphone sales volume.

Xiaomi's Redmi 9A contributed 2% to the total global smartphone sales volume. The Redmi 9 and Redmi Note 9 each contributed 1% to total global smartphone sales volume.

Three Samsung smartphones also contributed 1% each to the total global smartphone sales volume: the Galaxy A12, Galaxy A215, and Galaxy A31.

Apple's smartphones not only dominated in sales volume but also in value during Q1 2021. Sales of iPhones, particularly the 12 series, are expected to continue increasing this year. In some countries, buyers are even willing to wait several weeks for the product to become available.

Xiaomi smartphones made it into the top sellers list thanks to high sales in China and India. The Redmi 9 also made the list due to strong sales performance in Southeast Asia.
