10 Countries Where Citizens Love Cosmetic Surgery

The International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) performed 11,363,569 procedures in 2019. The highest number of these procedures were performed on residents of three countries in the Americas.

Brazil had the highest number of cosmetic surgery procedures, with 1,493,673 procedures, representing 13.1% of the global total. Nose and abdominal surgeries were the most popular choices in Brazil.

The United States also showed a high number of cosmetic surgeries. Breast augmentation and liposuction were the most popular procedures in the US, with 1,351,917 procedures performed, representing 11.9% of the global total in 2019.

Mexico ranked third with 580,659 cosmetic surgery procedures. Similar to the US, liposuction and breast augmentation were the most popular procedures.

Globally, the number of surgical procedures increased by 7.1% in 2019 compared to the previous year. Non-surgical procedures also saw a similar increase of 7.6%, driven by injectable treatments such as Botox and fillers.

ISAPS surveyed 25,000 plastic surgeons. The report's figures are projections of international statistics based on the estimated number of actively practicing plastic surgeons in each country. The international survey focused on certified doctors. The ranking of procedures is based on the available data representation from each country.
