National Rice Production Potential Reached 31.69 Million Tons in 2021

Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), national rice production is estimated to reach 45.61 million tons of dry milled rice (GKG) throughout January-September 2021.

This rice production, when converted into rice for public consumption, will become 26.15 million tons of rice. This figure increased by 0.12% compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, the potential rice production for the October-December 2021 period is estimated at 9.66 million tons of GKG. When converted into rice, this will be 5.54 million tons.

Thus, the potential rice production is estimated to reach 31.69 million tons throughout this year. This figure is up 1.12% compared to the previous year's rice production of 31.33 million tons.

In 2021, the highest rice production reached 5.54 million tons, occurring in March. Meanwhile, the highest rice production in 2020 occurred in April, reaching 5.6 million tons.

Three provinces in Java, namely East Java, Central Java, and West Java, are the largest national rice barns. Central Java's potential rice production is 4.87 million tons. East Java's potential rice production is 4.84 million tons, and West Java's potential rice production is 4.25 million tons.
