East Java Became the Largest Layer Chicken Egg Producer in 2019

East Java was Indonesia's largest producer of laying hen eggs in 2019. Based on data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), laying hen egg production in East Java reached 1.63 million tons, or 34.4% of the national total in 2019.

Laying hen egg production in East Java was three times greater than that of North Sumatra, the second largest national producer. North Sumatra's laying hen egg production was recorded at 512,400 tons in 2019.

Blitar Regency is the largest egg-producing center in East Java. According to the Head of the Blitar Regency Livestock and Fisheries Service, Adi Andaka, the region supplies 70% of eggs in East Java and 30% nationally. In 2020, total egg production in Blitar reached 1,150-1,200 tons per day.
