Top 10 Avocado-Producing Regions in Indonesia

Avocados are one of the high-value horticultural commodities. This fruit, nicknamed "Green Gold," also offers numerous health benefits and a delicious taste, making it a favorite among the public.

Indonesia's Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) recorded avocado production at 609,050 tons in 2020. This figure represents a 31.9% increase compared to the previous year's 461,600 tons.

East Java is the largest avocado-producing province in Indonesia, with production reaching 175,700 tons. This is followed by West Java and Central Java, with 104,600 tons and 73,900 tons respectively.

The Pameling avocado from Malang Regency, East Java, is a commodity that the Directorate General of Horticulture plans to develop in 2021. This fruit boasts advantages such as large size, high productivity (reaching 150-200 kilograms per tree), and year-round fruiting.

Avocados are also highly popular due to their versatility in culinary applications, lending themselves to a wide range of delicious foods and beverages, including avocado pudding, avocado brownies, avocado milkshakes, and many more.
