Bulog Distributes 752,000 Tons of Rice through May 2024: Here's the Distribution

The Indonesian state-owned logistics agency, Perum Bulog, reported that from the beginning of the year to May 2024, the realization of rice distribution under the Food Supply and Price Stabilization (SPHP) program reached 752,266 tons.

"Up to now, 752,000 tons have been distributed, or approximately 63% of the 1.2 million ton target," said Perum Bulog President Director Bayu Krisnamurthi in a meeting with Commission IV of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) on Monday (June 10, 2024).

Bayu explained that Bulog had temporarily slowed down SPHP distribution during the main harvest season. However, distribution will be intensified again after the harvest period.

From the beginning of the year to the end of May 2024, the most SPHP rice was distributed to the regional offices (kanwil) of DKI Jakarta and Banten, with a combined volume of 216,038 tons.

Next were East Java and West Java, with SPHP rice distribution of 77,095 tons and 55,859 tons respectively.

Meanwhile, the lowest realization was in Bali, with a distribution of 4,463 tons.

Based on the sales channels, most SPHP rice was distributed to retailers (57.8%), followed by distributors (36.3%), task forces (4.1%), local governments (1.5%), and state-owned enterprises (0.3%).

"In addition to (SPHP rice sales) in traditional markets, we are now also trying to make SPHP available in modern retail outlets. Starting from Indomaret, Alfamart, Indogrosir, and others," said Bayu.
